Pledge4.org is a pro-social, non-extractive business referral community for the PR and Marketing industry. It was established in 2021 by Todd Beck, the founder of BECK Media & Marketing, in collaboration with James Price.
PLEDGE4.org is where agencies and creatives share referrals to fundraise for good causes.

If I sign a new client or project that came to me through Pledge4, I will contribute 4%* of my net revenue on the project to one or more of Pledge4’s designated non-profit causes.

James Price was there at the inception of the idea that eventually grew into Pledge4. His primary focus is Basecamp, the business and personal coaching community he founded in 2020 to amplify the beneficial impact of his 1:1 coaching practice for entrepreneurs and business owners. Price chairs the Basecamp Charitable Organization, a California 501(c)3 dedicated to making direct positive community impact through its work on diversity and inclusion in business, as well as mental health and homelessness.

These are the FAQs about the program
Is there a fee to participate?
No, there is no charge to take the pledge.
Does it have to be 4%?
No. 4% is a suggested target, but donations could be more or less than 4%, and are completely voluntary. There is no 4% police – we trust you to do as much as you can, as often as you can.
How long do I have to keep up the donations after signing a new client?
We hope you’ll keep them coming for the life of the client relationship, even as it grows and changes, provided the economics work for you. But there is no 4% police force. This is strictly on the honor system, and we hope that you’ll stay in the circle and even get more 4% referrals in the future. When you succeed, Pledge4 succeeds.
Are my donations to Pledge4 causes tax deductible?
Always check with your tax specialist, but generally, contributions to our featured causes should be tax deductible to the extent it can be. Each organization will issue a donation receipt letter bearing its 501c3 information which is typically all you need to claim the deduction. If you donate to Pledge4 itself, your donation will be most appreciated and well used, but it will not be tax deductible because Pledge4 is more of an idea or worldview dedicated to a novel approach to improving our shared world than it is a non-profit organization.
Note: If your typical project fee is $10,000, consider putting a 4% premium on it and charging $10,400, and include a note with your proposal that the admittedly strange fee level is because your firm has proudly taken the 4% PLEDGE, and you hope the client will support you in it. If they do, great. If they balk at it, that’s fine, too, but as they say, “if you don’t ask, you don’t get.” As the 4% PLEDGE movement gains traction, you may find that your participation is a net positive for potential clients and helps you win more business, both inside and outside of the 4% Pledge community.
What causes does Pledge4 Support?
- Pledge4 directs financial and in-kind contributions to programs focused on employment opportunities and inclusion in the media and technology industries, as well as those that make a positive impact in the fight against homelessness and poverty in the communities where BECK MEDIA does business. We also support an array of other progressive, pro-social causes. Currently, we are active in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, Atlanta, and New York City.
